Professional Training: Weibull Reliability

Learning Objectives:

With this training, the trainees will be able to generate Weibull and lognormal failure distributions from data sets. They will be able to assess fitness of the distribution to the data, and be able to use the distributions to calculate the current probability of failure and future probability of failure, for a single component and for a fleet of components. They will be able to use Weibull’s for complex systems, and build fault trees to better assess consequence of failure and probability of failure for multiple failure severities. They will be able to adjust their definition of failure to apply Weibull distributions to maintenance, repair, and overhaul applications as well as business planning to include estimating parts provisioning requirements.

Training Duration:

2-3 days, however flexible based on the client's final list of training topics and desired training schedule.

• Brief review of probability and probability distributions
• Weibull distributions:
  • The Weibull distribution and applications
  • Definition of a failure event
  • Generating a 2-parameter Weibull
  • Failure and suspension data points and effects on Weibull distribution
  • Evaluating fitness to the data set
  • Mixed failures modes and how to improve fitness
  • 3-parameter and 1-parameter Weibull distributions
• Lognormal distributions and applications
• Fault trees and use of distributions to assess consequence of failure
• Current risk and future risk forecasting
• Applications to maintenance, repair, and overhaul
• Business planning applications

This list of topics can be modified to meet the customer’s specific and unique requirements, which includes examples and exercises using the client’s data.

What's included:

Each trainee will receive a 1-year licence with access to weibullSUITE and fleetRISK web-based software at https://apps.paulaerospace.ca and includes email support for the duration of the licence.

Pricing:

Estimated cost is $2000 - $2500 CDN per trainee. Actual cost will be based on the client's desired number of training days, the final list of training topics, the desired location of training, and the number of trainees.

Minimum and maximum number of trainees:

The minimum and maximum number of trainees will depend on the desired venue and location, however larger discounts are available for larger numbers of trainees.

Location:

Client’s venue. We come to you to provide the training to your engineers where they do their work so they get the maximum benefit from the training possible. This also allows for hands on examples and practical exercises to go through specific applications for your specific use cases.

Language of Instruction:

The course material has been developed in English, however instruction in French may also available.
